Clyde Stipes

Clyde O'Dell Stipes BLUFF CITY, Tenn. Clyde O'Dell Stipes went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at the Pine Ridge Care Center in Elizabethton, Tenn. He was a native and lifelong resident of the Bluff City area and was a son of the late James Neil Stipes and Margaret Nila Carrier Stipes. He was an electrician of Stipes Electric, was a U.S. Marine and Army veteran serving during the World War II and Korean conflict. Besides parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Urika Belle Smith Stipes; a daughter, Tammie Stipes; and a son, "Jimmy" Stipes. Survivors include: sons, Clyde Stipes Jr., Ray Stipes, Chuck Stipes, Mark Stipes, William Stipes, Bradley Stipes and Junior Clark; daughters, Cathy Fleenor, Fay Bloomer, Shirley Stipes, Barbara Oliver, Beverly Woodroof, Teresa Bennett, Linda and Debbie Householder; three brothers;. four sisters;28 grandchildren; and 21 great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2010, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jamie Ferguson officiating. The committal will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Glenwood Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Ron Oliver, Ernie Fleenor, Gary Kestner, Travis Whitaker, Timmy Gross and Jimmy Gross. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Friday at the Weaver Funeral Home or from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at the home of a son, Mark Stipes, 442 Flatwood Road, Bluff City, TN.
