David Gentry MARION, Va. David Gentry, age 59, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at his home. David held a strong faith and love of God. He was completely devoted to his family, friends and job. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying all types of sports, especially hunting. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne. He was preceded in death by his father, Delmar Dean Gentry; his father-in-law, David H. Blevins; aunt Katherine Meck; and special nephew, Chad Scott Doss. David is survived by his wife, Diane Gentry of Marion; two daughters, Leslie Davidson and fianc‚ Billy Stickley of Marion, Stacy Miller and husband Wesley Jr. of Sugar Grove, Va.; sister, Phyllis Doss of Marion; two grandsons, Brock Davidson and Brandon Miller; his mother, Charlotte Gentry of Marion; his mother-in-law, Edith P. Blevins of Marion; three special brothers-in-law, Tom Doss, Cam Blevins and Tracy Sizemore, Gerald Blevins and wife, Ann, all of Marion; several special nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at 6 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Kenny Price officiating and with military rites conducted by Marion VFW Post No. 4667. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
