David Roark BRISTOL, Tenn. David Roark, age 84, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. He loved his family, wife, and children and to fish, garden and farming. He was a member of Stoney Point Baptist Church, Hiltons, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Milton and Mary Kate Jones Roark; two sisters, Ruth Campbell and Virgie Brown; a brother, William Roark; and one grandchild, Christopher Carroll Roark. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Bertha Phillips Roark; two daughters, Kathy Taylor of Bristol Virginia and Jeannie Arnold and husband, Charles of Bluff City, Tenn.; six sons, David Roark and wife, Mary of Hampton, Tenn., Freddie Roark and wife, Ruth of Roan Mountain, Tenn., Johnie Roark and wife, Betty of Bluff City, Tenn.; Bobby Roark and wife, Kimberly of Bristol Virginia, Michael Roark of Elk Park, N.C., and Daniel Roark and wife, Loretta of Bluff City; three brothers, Don Roark, Ronald Roark and Wayne Roark, of Shady Valley, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Berry and Troy Davis, Pastor officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Miller Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joshua Arnold, Nathan Roark, Beau Taylor, Jimmy Darnell, Mickey Lane and Charles Arnold. Honorary pallbearer will be Charlie Taylor. The family will receive friends from 5 7 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at Akard Funeral Home. E-mail condolences to the family at [email protected] Akard Funeral Home, 1912 W. me and johnie was just hanging out in the stores when i was thinking about you {papa} i know christmas was sad because that was when your mom when home but you love gifts or just someone thinking of you we found a music box of a christmas tree with snow and a lighted star on top we want you to have it once again we gather around the tree me johnie mamaw and you like we did a many christmas eves you stay a wake long enough to say you liked it and shut your eyes then you look to see if we was still there iask if you was tired and you say yes then i pray for God to take you home so you wouldnt suffer any more they sang you christmas carols and tues morning God gave you the best gift
