Donald R. "Don" Yates Donald R. "Don" Yates, age 82, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010. He was born July 14, 1928, in Martha's Vineyard, Oak Bluff, Mass., to the late James R. Yates and Clara Edna Jones Yates. He made his home in Lexington, Ky., for several years before moving to Blountville, Tenn. Mr. Yates was a retired bus driver for Lextran Bus Company in Lexington. He was a member of Gardners Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Leigh Fleenor Yates; his first wife, Eileen Morrison Yates; by two brothers, Albert J. Yates and Samuel Yates; and a sister, Clara Stanton. Survivors: sons, Dr. James R. Yates and wife Phyllis, Ronald Eugene "Randy" Yates; grandchildren, Melissa Yates, Brian Yates; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, from the Gardners Chapel Primitive Baptist Church with honorary speaker Elder Bobby Carter and Rev. I.W. McNamara officiating. Burial will follow in Gardners Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 at Weaver Funeral Home.
