Earl Botts Obituary

Earl C. Botts BRISTOL, Va. Earl C. Botts, age 93, a resident of the Smith Creek community, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at his home. Mr. Botts was born on Sept. 2, 1917, in Washington County, a son of the late Thomas Andrew Botts and Amanda Rowe Botts. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, had worked as a logger and school bus driver, and also operated a store for many years on Black Hollow Road in Abingdon. Mr. Botts was a U.S. veteran, having proudly served his country in the Army during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Emilee Poore; two brothers, Holly Botts and Jay Botts; and one grandson, Rickey Rasnake. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mildred L. Botts of Bristol Virginia; four daughters, Joyce Hartley and husband, Ronnie of Cocoa, Fla., Janice Flinn and husband, Bud of Merritt Island, Fla., Barbara Stanley and husband, Mike of Bristol Virginia, and Brenda Anderson and husband, Sam of Bristol Virginia; one son, Jerry Botts of Bristol Virginia; one sister, Marie South and husband, Bill of Abingdon; nine grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon.
