Edna Harr

Edna Kathlene (Stophel) Harr Edna Kathlene Harr passed away on the eve ning of July 23, 2010, at the age of 88. She was born Edna Kathlene Stophel on Oct. 4, 1921, in the home of her parents, Charles and Amanda Stophel in Bristol Tennessee. She was the youngest of three girls; and had one younger brother. Edna attended Virginia Avenue Methodist Church in her youth, and she was active in church. She sang in the choir and she loved to sing. She attended and graduated from Bristol Tennessee High School. Her most significant job in Bristol was in the printing department of Massingill Pharmaceutical Company, and this is where she met Robert Harr. Edna and Robert married on Sept. 23, 1943. Edna gave birth to Bobby in April, 1945. Edna and family moved to Akron, Ohio, in November 1948, and then to Austin, Texas, in January 1951. She was a Texas resident for the rest of her life. She joined Trinity Methodist Church shortly after arriving in Austin. Edna gave birth to Gary in February of 1953. Shortly after Gary was born, she began her career at Texas Department of Public Safety. In the early 1970's, her life took a new direction. She joined Unity Church and also joined A.R.E. - Association for Research and Enlightenment. Her new Texas friends knew her as Kathlene. In the late 1980's, Edna Kathlene joined "The church of Conscious Harmony" and was a member of that church for the remainder of her life. Her life was a spiritual journey. She was preceded in death by her sister, Myrtle Osborne; and her brother, Charles Stophel. Edna Kathlene is survived by her sister, Marjorie Stophel; her sons, Bob Harr and Gary Harr; her grandchildren, Hunter Harr and Heather Harr; and her great-grandson, Jaden Kovach. Memorial services will be held at The Church of Conscious Harmony, 7406 Newhall Lane, Austin, TX 78746, on Saturday, Aug. 21. at 11 a.m.
