Ella Ruth Helton Puckett Tignor LEBANON, Va. Ella Ruth Helton Puckett Tignor, 82, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 4, 2009, after a long illness. She was born on Jan. 1, 1927, to the late Nellie Bernice Carpenter Helton and Glen W. Helton. A lifelong resident of Russell County, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was of the Baptist faith. She was employed for many years at Quality Cleaners in Lebanon and Quality Cleaners in Tazewell, Va. She also worked as a seamstress for Alfred and Jim's Department Store in Lebanon for many years before retiring from Lebanon Apparel in Lebanon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Frank L. Puckett Jr.; her second husband Harry Tignor; also, her brothers, William, Raleigh, Glen W. Jr, Nelson, Paul, Dewey; her sisters, Alice Helton, Gertie Casey and Hazel Tignor; also, a granddaughter: Susan Elizabeth Rasnake. Survivors include: Geneva Lark and husband Jerry of Lebanon and Carolyn Rasnake and husband Wayne of Lebanon; son, Harless C. Puckett and wife Donna of Abingdon, Va.; grandchildren include: Douglas Lark and wife Suzanne, Janet Musick and husband Charles, Robert L. Rasnake, Jason Rasnake and wife Samantha, Sandra Davenport and husband Travis, Jeff Kelly and wife Brenda and Mark Kelly and wife Velena; also, 11 great-grandchildren, Ashley and Amber Lark, Alyssa and Alexis Musick, Arienna Davenport, Emily Rasnake, Meagan and Eden Rasnake, Julie and Maddie Kelly and Danielle and Hunter Kelly; one great-great-grandchild, Rett Kelly. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Rosa Helton, Lebanon, Ruby Puckett, Tazewell, Va., Gaynell Tignor, Lebanon; as well as several nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Jean Murphy. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel, with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Music will be provided by the Faith Independent Singers. Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, in the Russell Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon. Those attending are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Cedar Creek Baptist Church; or Reeds Valley Church Building Fund.
