Emerson Clayton Owens `Emerson Clayton Owens, age 82, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 27, 2010. `He was born March 10, 1928, in Council, Va., and has been a long time resident of Bristol Virginia. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Emerson was a U.S. Marine veteran. He retired from Jewell Coal and Coke Company, Vansant, Va. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered by his family for his caring and giving ways. Emerson was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Owens; his daughter, Paula Evette; brothers, Benny and Ashby Owens; and great-granddaughter, Jadelle Annette Hall. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Owens; his daughters, Kathy Marie Eller, Teresa Hall, Lisa Ayers and husband J.R.; his brothers, Jack and wife Norma, Buford and wife Evelyn; his sisters, Laska Fuller and husband Clarence, and sister, Evelyn Musick. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christy, Rachel, Jonathan, Nicholas, Victoria, Zachary, Hannah and Isabella; five great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was a special and beloved friend to Don and Debbie Snowden, Jimmy Sanders, Howard Totten and their families. A celebration of life will be conducted from the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at 2 p.m. with Don Snowden and Rev. Mary Minnick officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Eller, Corey Snowden, Jackie Owens, Mike Eller, Von Carroll, and Cody Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Totten, Jimmy Sanders, and Ronnie Booher.
