EVELYN HAWKINS

Evelyn Hawkins ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. Evelyn Hawkins, age 83, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010, following an extended illness. She was a member of Henard's Chapel Baptist Church. She was the wife of Willis Hawkins for almost 64 years, mother of three and grandmother of five and great-grandmother of three, Sunday school teacher, neighbor, friend of many and a faithful servant of Christ. Mrs. Hawkins had a kind word for every person she met, and the customers she took care of during her 27-year career with Parks-Belk in Rogersville and Johnson City. Most people who met Evelyn Hawkins remembered her, and many used the same three words to describe her -- a sweet lady. Mrs. Hawkins was pre-ceded in death by her parents, Gale and Katherine Martin Epps; sister, Mable Ruth Lipe; brothers, Frank Epps, Paul Edgar Epps, Roy Doty Epps, Gale Lester Epps, Willard Hanes Epps a She is survived by her husband, Willis Hawkins; daughters, Linda Williams, Ravan Krickbaum and husband, Bill, all of Rogersville; son, Steve Hawkins and wife, Tracey of Bristol Tennessee; grandchildren, Kenny Williams and wife, Charlotte, of Mooresburg, Stacy McLain and husband, Stoney, Alex Carney and wife, Elizabeth, and Katie Carney, all of Rogersville, Jenn Sproles and husband, Nathaniel, of Lexington, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Nikki Jones and husband, Dustin , Cody McLain, and Isabel Carney, all of Rogersville; sisters, Thelma Bailey, Dorothy Hicks, and Eula Hicks and husband, Roy, all of Rogersville; brother, Everette Epps of Ashland, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville. Funeral service will be conducted 8 p.m., Sunday, June 13, 2010, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Rick Dinkins and the Rev. Richard Cassidy officiating. Graveside service will be 11 a.m., Monday, June 14, 2010, at Zion Methodist Church Cemetery, Baileyton.
