Genola Turner Stalcup Genola Turner Stalcup, age 86, formerly of Bristol Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness. A native of Dickenson County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Morgan and Hattie Fleming Turner. Mrs. Stalcup was a wonderful mother and grandmother who enjoyed taking care of others. She attended Belle Meadow Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Stalcup; one sister, Carrie Hayes; and a brother, Jeff Turner. Survivors include a son, James J. Stalcup and his wife Sharon, Elizabethton; one sister, Faye Minga, Blountville, Tenn.; one grandson, Christopher Stalcup, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Genola Turner Stalcup will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the service. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at Gunnings Cemetery in Blountville. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. on Sunday. Active pallbearers will be Roger Reece, John Starnes, David Barnes, Bill Pope and John Shelton. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton for their loving and devoted care given to Mrs. Stalcup during her illness.
