Georgia Ruth Barry Bentley SHADY V ALLEY, Tenn. Georgia Ruth Bentley, age 91, of 1111 Winchester Road, passed away peacefully and went home to be with her Heavenly Father Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009. She was proceeded in death by her parents, David and Jetta Reedy Barry; her husband of 49 years, Clyde Bentley; two sisters, Mae Reedy Cole and Iona Musick; three brothers, Hubert Barry, Alvin Barry and Ralph Berry; her special friend, Thelma Cole, preceded her in death. Georgia was an active member of the Shady Valley Presbyterian Church, she served as a past treasurer and made sure the doors to the church were unlocked and opened for services. Georgia loved to quilt and do gardening, canning and visiting her friends. Georgia was retired from Raytheon where she worked for 13 years in assembly. Survivors include her two sons, Harry Bentley and wife Lonita of Blountville, Tenn., and Olan Bentley and wife Diane of Shady Valley, Tenn.; her brother, R.C. Barry and wife Peggy of Bristol Tennessee, and her brother/nephew, Gene Cole of Clarksville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, April Bentley of Blountville, Tenn., Kristy Bentley Scott and husband Chad of Satellite Beach, Fla., Gwen Bentley of Johnson City, Tenn., Beth Bentley Lewis and husband Chad of Jonesborough, Tenn., Kelly Bentley and wife Erin of Johnson City, Tenn.; five great-grandchildren, Samuel Scott, Caleb Scott, Parker Lewis, Payton Lewis and Paxton Lewis. Funeral services for Georgia Ruth Bentley will be conducted 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Shady Valley Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Thomas Peake and Mr. Jim Sherman conducting the service. Pallbearers will be Coy Bentley, Conley Gentry, Rick Campbell, Norman Taylor, Dick Righter, Kenneth McQueen, James Gentry and Dean Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be John Cole, Dr. James Shine and Dr. Donald Walters. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Friends may also call at the home of her son, Olan Bentley and wife Diane, 1228 Winchester Road, Shady Valley, TN at any time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shady Valley Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Charles McQueen 176 McQueen Road, Shady Valley, TN 37688.
