Gladys Mae Amburgey Carter DANTE, Va. Gladys Mae Amburgey Carter, 102 years and 6 months, left this earthly life for her heavenly home on Friday, June 18, 2010, at Maple Grove Health Care Center, Lebanon, Va. She was born in Russell County, Va., daughter of the late Thomas H. and Mary Jane Kiser Amburgey. She was preceded in death by husband, Claude K. Carter; one son, Rev. Carlyle Carter; one daughter, Peggy Griffith; one daughter-in-law; four sons-in-law; three grandchildren; four brothers; and six sisters. She is survived by one daughter, Maxine Phipps Lawson of Lewisburg, Ohio; one son, Bill Carter and wife, Betty of Dante, Va.; five grandsons; three granddaughters; eight great grandsons; four great granddaughters; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Gladys Mae Amburgey Carter will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2010, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Va., with Rev. Estol Amburgey officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Va. Pallbearers will be Roger Carter, Drew Carter, Travis Carter, Gene Sexton, Dennis Burke and Jess Johnson. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2010, in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Va. The family wants to give many thanks to her second family at Maple Grove Health Care Center, Lebanon, Va., for all their love and care.
