Gloria Gene "GiGi" Akers BRISTOL, Tenn. Gloria Gene "GiGi" Akers, age 79, died Friday Nov. 19, 2010, after a lingering illness at her home. She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Gertrude Epperson Roberts. She was a longtime member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and attended Living by Faith Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winford "Jack " Akers; and her three brothers. She is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Campbell and husband, Rick, and Jan Ditto and husband, Terry; three brothers, Steve Roberts and wife, Judy, Stanley Roberts and wife, Josie, Tim Roberts and wife, Sue; and two sisters-in-law, Paula Roberts and Betty Presson and husband, Charles. Also surviving are four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for "GiGi" will be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, on Monday Nov. 22, 2010, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Jeff Harless officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stan Roberts, Steve Roberts, Tim Roberts, Jamie Shaffer, Andy Campbell, and Donald Moore. Visitation will be at the church 1 until 2 p.m. before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 Email condolences may be sent to the family at [email protected] The Akard Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Akers.
