H. Elkins Obituary

H. F. Dwight Elkins Son of William Worth and Faye Elkins of Jonesville, Va., age 88, passed away on Nov. 15, 2010. He was preceded in death by first wife of 53 years, Naomi Elkins of Stickleyville, Va.; his parents; two brothers; and two sisters. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, veteran, teacher, and friend. Dwight served his country in WWII as an aviator for the U. S. Marine Corps in the Pacific theater and China. He graduated from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn. in 1948. He taught and coached at Blackwater High School in Blackwater, Va., until moving to Vandalia, Ohio in 1952. Dwight taught and coached at Vandalia Butler High School for over 25 years. He started Elkins and Sons Insurance Agency in Vandalia, where he worked until his death. He is survived by wife of eight years, Maxine Elkins of Tellico Village, Loudon, Tenn.; sister, Ruth Phipps of Bristol Virginia; sons, Dwight Evan of Vandalia, Wayne Alan of Tipp City, Ohio, and Anthony Worth and daughter-in-law Lee Ann Elkins of Novi, Mich.; two grandsons, Nathan Drew Elkins of Vandalia, and William Anthony Elkins and wife Kristin Alexandra Elkins of Hammond, Ind.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, students, neighbors and Marines.
