Helen Louise Whitaker Oneal BRISTOL, Tenn. Helen Louise Whitaker Oneal, born on May 17, 1936, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and of the Holiness faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Joseph "Peanut" Oneal; mother, Bonnie Rosenbalm Whitaker; father, Hopp Scott Whitaker; son, Danny Oneal; daughter, Peggy Oneal; brother, Russell Whitaker; sister, Betty Gardner; grandparents, Nellie and James Rosenbalm and Emma and George Whitaker. Survivors included three daughters, Judy Reed and husband, Wallace of Watauga, Tenn., Sharon Jones and husband, Clayton of Bristol Tennessee and Tammie Richardson and Robert Holdren of Bristol Tennessee; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Todd Crusenberry officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Reed, Jonathan McKinney, Tim Taylor, Wallace Reed, Chris Hilliard and Bobby Pennington. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Holdren, Clayton Jones and Danny Reed. The family will receive friends from 68 p.m., Sunday at Akard Funeral Home. Friends and family are welcome to visit at 541 Bristol Caverns Hwy at the home of Sharon and Clayton Jones anytime. Special thanks to Tammie's extended family at Bristol's Big Lots for their support and to everyone for the flowers and donations and to Wellmont Hospice and nurse Tracie for their loving care. Anyone wishing to help with the funeral expense may make a donation to Akard Funeral Home in care of Helen Oneal.
