Homer Huffstutler Obituary

NORTON – Homer Nelson Huffstutler, 96, died Thursday, May 10, 2007, at his home in the Josephine community.
He was born Dec. 28, 1910, in Blount County, Ala., to John Lewis and Ada Love Huffstutler, and was the last surviving family member of his generation. Homer was a retired Open Fork Coal Co. miner and was a member of UMWA Local 6229.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Ruth Light Huffstutler; his children, Arnold Huffstutler, Fairfield, Ohio, Grace Thompson, Norton, Larry Huffstutler, Mosheim, Tenn., and Lewis Huffstutler, Greenville, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Terry Bunch and Pastor Glenn Ritchie officiating. A eulogy will be offered by a son, Lewis Huffstutler. Family and friends will gather at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where they will then depart in procession for Powell Valley Memorial Gardens for graveside committal services and burial.
Funeral services are provided through Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home of Norton.
