Honnie B. Gunnoe ABINGDON, Va. Honnie B. Gunnoe, 87, passed away on Friday, Sept.24, 2010. He was born on December 10, 1922, in Portsmouth, Ohio and was a son of the late Honnie and Annie Gunnoe. He graduated from Greenbrier High School in 1941 and attended West Virginia University. In 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and was a nose gunner in a B24 Bomber with the 235th AAF Base unit. He graduated from the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. In 1946 he married his childhood sweetheart, Virginia Ott. They have two daughters, Brenda Mandes and Wanda Gunnoe; one grandson, Galen Mandes. He has a sister, Lucy Morgan and brother, Charles Gunnoe. He moved to Abingdon, Va., in 1957 and worked at the West End Pharmacy and Peoples Drug Store. He also worked at Eckerds, Revco, CVS and other pharmacies in the area. He was a member of the Sinking Springs Presbyterian Church and the DAV. Those who would like to make a memorial gift may do so to Sinking Springs Presbyterian Church, 136 E. Main St. Abingdon, VA 24210, or the Highlands Children's Home, 425 Grayson Rd. Wytheville, VA 24382. Mr. Gunnoe's wish to have his body donated to East Tennessee State University's College of Medicine was fulfilled.
