Hoyt Kiser

Hoyt L. Kiser SOUTH CLINCHFIELD, Va. Hoyt L. Kiser, 72, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2010. Born in Russell County, Va., on Nov. 26, 1937, he was the son of the late Malcolm S. and Ida M. Artrip Kiser. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one grandson, Adam Anderson; son-in-law, David C. Anderson; and daughter, Victoria Lynn Anderson. A retired coal miner, he was a member of the UMWA. He was also a member of the Clinchfield Bluegrass Boys and played bluegrass and gospel music for over 40 years. He was well-known and loved by all that knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Helen R. Kiser; one daughter, Millette Yvonne Lawson and husband Sam; one granddaughter; two great- grandchildren; special friends and caregivers, Nancy O'Quinn, Shelia Fowler and Martha Hopkins; and he'll by sadly missed by his little dogs, Sassy and Sweetie. Pallbearers will be Matthew Salyers, Samuel Lawson, Sheldon Fowler, Brian O'Quinn, Robert Tiller and Denver Sutherland. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, at Owens Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson, Rev. Roger Phillips and Samuel Lawson officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Lebanon. Those wishing to follow in the funeral procession are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:45 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday before the funeral service. Owens Funeral Service, Lebanon, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
