Hubert "Sam" Hayden SALTVILLE, Va. Hubert "Sam" Hayden, age 71, passed away on June 1, 2010, at his home. Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Mullins Hayden; parents, Samuel and Audrey B. Hayden; two sisters, Eva Gentry and Barbara Call. Mr. Hayden was a member of the Calvary Bible Church, a former employee of the U.S. Gypsum with over 25 years of service and afterwards enjoyed his work as a volunteer at Valley Health Care. Survivors: two sons, Eugene Hayden of Saltville, Jeffrey Hayden of Chilhowie, Va.; two daughters, Donna Robbins of Saltville, Kimberly Porter and husband Richard of York, S.C.; two sisters, CorinaTaylor of Saltville, Helen Doane of Saltville; three grandchildren, Sam Robbins and Josh Robbins of the home, Chris Hayden of Saltville; three great- grandchildren, Gwen Robbins, Olivia Hayden, Andre Hayden; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Sam Hayden will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010, in the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. James Gentry and Rev. Kenny Gilbert officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery Friday morning at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to drhendersonfuneralhome.com D.R. To my brother Hubert's family, may God bless you all and comfort you. Hubert loved his family very much. I loved my brother very much and I will miss him, but I know that he is in heaven now. We need to hold on to God, so we can meet again soon! Hubert I love you!

Hubert "Sam" was my only brother and an inspiration to us all. He was not only a brother but a special friend. He touched many lives and loved the Lord so very much. He loved his friends at Church and Valley Nursing home where he voluntered helping all the patients hear the Gospel and singing. He also helped us all with his understanding and his patience . He loved his family and would do anything possible for us all. He will be sadly missed but we will see you in Heaven very soon. You walked the narrow road and fought the good fight. God is gathering us in and I know you are with Him in Heaven with the rest of our family. I will miss you so very much.
