Irene Gabbard RICHLANDS, Va. Irene Gabbard, age 82, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010. Born May 11, 1927, at Mingo County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Willie and Roxie McCloud Maggard. She was a member of Bandy Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Gabbard; two brothers, Alvie Maggard and Willie Maggard; and six sisters, Anna Pack, Edith Kirby, Ruby Maggard, Evelyn Maggard, Ruth Mitchell and Donna Workman. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family in her generation. She is survived by one daughter, Linda K. Browning and husband Donald of Gaffney, S.C.; two grandsons, Donald "Butch" Browning Jr. and wife Shirley of Richlands and Willie "Chip" Browning and wife Wendy of Gaffney; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va., with Rev. Samuel Altizer and Brother Marvin Nipper officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff.
