J.C. Denton BRISTOL, Va. J.C. Denton, 95, passed away Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, in Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Bristol and the son of the late Carl and Olie Worley Denton. Also, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann Bivens Denton, and a brother, Earl Denton. He was in business with his brother-in-law, (Bevins and Denton Produce) for several years. He was a great farmer and grew produce for years to supply Piccadilly Restaurant. He was a very caring and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a present member of Fellowship Chapel and a past member of Belle Meadows Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Elizabeth Hensley and husband, Bill, of Bristol Virginia; one grandson, Jayson Howard Owens and wife, Rachel; two great-grandchildren, Kylie Elizabeth and Autumn Riley Owens; one sister, Bessie Bolling of Bristol Tennessee; and several nieces and cousins. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Scott Price officiating. Entombment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Charles Necessary, Sid Mullins, Michael Eldreth, Kevin Leonard, Art Bond and Charles Balthis. The family will receive friends from 6 8 p.m. Saturday at Akard Funeral Home.
