Jack D. Watson BRISTOL, Tenn. Jack D. Watson, 79, went to his Heavenly home on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, in Bristol Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Mr Watson was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Bolling Watson; and son, Joel Watson. He was the son of the late Grady and Maye Jones Watson. Mr Watson was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was past commander of VFW 6975 and a member of the American Legion. He worked for Bristol Steel and Iron works for 34 years. After retiring, he volunteered with the City of Bristol Tennessee delivering meals to the elderly and sick, eventually taking a part time position with the City. Mr. Watson enjoyed fishing and watching sports on TV but, most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Watson is survived by one daughter, Renee Watson and fianc‚ David Cawood; two sons, Joey Watson, Bristol Tennessee, and Jason Watson, Knoxville, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Tonya Braswell, Bristol and Amber Watson, Blountville; three grandsons, Todd Anderson and Ian Watson, Bristol, Derrick Barnes, Blountville; three great-granddaughters, Keelan Braswell, Josie Merritt and Camryn Watson; one sister, Peggie Stapleton and husband James, Sparta Tenn.; several nieces. He is also survived by a very special friend, Betty Nave. Pallbearers will be the VFW Post 6975 Color Guard. Honarary pallbearers will be Terry Moore, Don Trinkle, Jeff Graybeal and Johnny Leonard. The family would like to express their sincere thanks for Dr Alton Blow and Nurse Libby Fields at Blue Ridge Medical and Dr Stephen Strickland, Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at Weaver Funeral Home in Bristol Tennessee, from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr Watson will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with a military burial at Crumley Cemetary to follow. Arrangements have been made with Weaver Funeral Home.
