James Ball

James "Pete" Ball BRISTOL, Tenn. James "Pete" Ball went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at his residence. He was a beloved father, grandfather and brother. He was a member of House of Prayer Worship Center in Bristol. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Tri-Cities Golf Course where he had many special friends. He served his country in the Vietnam War. Mr. Ball was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Sadie Daughtery Ball. Also preceding are two brothers, Alvin Ball and Roy Ball; and two sisters, Jean Ball and Jane Ball. Surviving is his son, Mark Smith and wife Becky, of Watauga, Tenn.; grandchildren, Marissa Hensley, Noah Smith and Jonah Smith; three brothers, Harold Ball of Richmond, Ind., Melvin Ball and wife Dottie, of Bristol Tennessee; and Junior Ball and wife Joyce, of Blountville, Tenn.; sisters, Ruby Carmack, of Kingsport, Tenn., Evelyn Shipley, Eleanor Lipscomb and husband, Charlie, Shirley Tranum and Mae Minton, all of Bristol Tennessee; several nieces and nephews. The family of James "Pete" Ball will recieve friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at Tri-Cities Funeral Home, with funeral services being conducted at 8 p.m. In the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Jimmy Phillips officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens, with services being conducted by American Legion Hammond Post 3, Gate City Post 265, and the Tennessee Army National Guard.
