James Asa Crabtree ST. PAUL, Va. James Asa Crabtree, 75, entered into the house of our Lord, Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009. He was a native of Russell County, Va. He retired from the Department of Highways in Buchanan County. Mr. Crabtree was preceded in death by his first wife, Gay Tiller Crabtree; his parents, Mona Lee Stevens Crabtree and Alvah Ferd Crabtree; infant brother, Robert Lee Crabtree; and an infant sister, Zelma Lydia Crabtree. Survivors include his second wife, Peggy Sue Crabtree of seven years; stepdaughter, Kimberly Sue Fox and her fianc‚ Danny; step-granddaughter, Elizabeth Victoria Ray and husband, Billy Ray Jr.; three step-grandsons, Christian Matthew Emminizer, Ryan Alexander Emminizer, and Joshua Edward Fox; mother-in-law and father- in-law, Edith Musick Ball Bucheister and Robert Buchheister; brothers, Alvah Edgar Crabtree and wife Gay, Carson Crabtree and wife Vickie, and A.F. Crabtree and Terry; sisters, Annie Bea Musick and husband Link, Irene Musick and husband Cecil, Darlene Ball and husband Willis; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends on his side and wife's side. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel with the Pastors Tim Hobson, Danny Darnell and Bob Steffey officiating. Burial will follow in Crabtree Family Cemetery on Sandy Ridge Road, Cleveland, Va. Pallbearers will be Wesley Crabtree, Mike Crabtree, Danny Crabtree, Leon Musick, Dean Musick, Ryan Emminizer, Darrell Ball, Christian Emminizer, David Winters and Danny Griffith. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Lester, James Lester, Tommy Dotson and Hassell Tiller. The family will receive friends 6 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at the funeral home. Combs Funeral Service, 291 Fincastle Road, Lebanon, VA 24266, (276) 889-4444, is serving the Crabtree family.
