James Evans Obituary

James E. Evans BRISTOL, Tenn. James E. Evans, age 77, passed away Nov. 30, 2009, at Greystone Healthcare. He was the son of Harry C. and Helen T. Evans, and was born in Syracuse, N.Y., but lived most of his life in Little Falls, N.Y. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Kohn) Evans in 1978; and his second wife, Janet E. Evans in 2005. He was very active in the Masonic Temple in Dolgeville, N.Y., and served as Master of the lodge in 1964. He was a 50 year life member of the Masons. He attended Marthina Memorial Chapel in Bristol. His career took him to many places around the world including California, Florida, Holland, Germany and Italy. He settled in Florida for the most of his later life but came to live in Bristol for the past five years. Survivors include: sons, Mike Evans of Denver, N.C., and David Evans and wife Doris of Bristol Tennessee; stepdaughters, Kimberly C. Spatol of Ilion, N.Y., and Melanie E. Godwin and husband Mark of High Point, N.C. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express a thank you to his special caregivers, Evelyn and Junior Morrell, Albert Spangler and AJ Kirkman. Also, special friend, Trish Van Schaick. Funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at 8 p.m. in the Marthina Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Sims officiating. A Masonic service will follow the funeral service. The burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Eastern Heights Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7:45 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sullivan County EMS, Attn: Donation Fund, 3411 Highway 126, Suite 204, Bristol, TN 37620; or Marthina Memorial Chapel, Ninth and Glen, Bristol, TN 37620. Dave and Mike,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Although we didn't see each other often, he was always a wonderful cousin. His Uncle Duard was very fond of him and enjoyed seeing his success in Masonary. Love to all of you.
