James King Hutchinson ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. Mr. James King Hutchinson, age 79, 714 Powder Branch Road, met Jesus face to face on Jan. 5, 2010, at his residence after battling cancer. He was born on July 31, 1930, in Glens Falls, N.Y., and was the son of the late King Trimble and Louise Barber Hutchinson. Mr. Hutchinson graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy as a corpsman and served during the Korean conflict. At the leading of the Lord, he moved his family to Elizabethton in 1976 and has lived here ever since. Most of his career was spent in sales of both pharmaceuticals and industrial chemicals. Mr. Hutchinson and his wife attend Memorial Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He served his community as a member and board member of the West Carter County Volunteer Fire Department. He also enjoyed trains and was a member of the National Historical Railroad Society. His loving servant's heart has blessed many through the years and stands as a testimony to the goodness of the Lord, Jesus Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gregory James Hutchinson. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Hayes Hutchinson; a son and his wife, Dirk James and Debra Hutchinson, Abingdon, Va.; two daughters, Kiersten King Hutchinson, Zimbabwe, Anne D. Hutchinson Gregg and her husband William Gregg, Jonesborough; a grandson, Thomas Jacob Gregg, Jonesborough; a brother and his wife, Edward T. and Jane Hutchinson, Glens Falls; several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service for Mr. James King Hutchinson will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, in Memorial Presbyterian Church, Elizabethton, with Rev. Dwight Basham officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2-3 p.m. Saturday prior to the memorial service. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, to those who desire, may be made to the West Carter County Volunteer Fire Department, 1420 Milligan Highway, Johnson City, TN 37601; Memorial Presbyterian Church, 100 East F St., Elizabethton, TN 37643; or to Karanda Mission Hospital, c/o TEAM, P.O. Box 969, Wheaton, IL 60187-0969.
