Jesse McGlothlin

Jesse H. McGlothlin BRISTOL, Tenn. Jesse H. McGlothlin, 87, passed way Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Wellmont Hospice House. He retired from Sprint and was a member of the Pioneer Club of Sprint. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II serving state side and an MP. He also did a lot of volunteering. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church for 55 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Howard and Jenny Looney McGlothlin; and his wife, Trula Lois Cook McGlothlin. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Jones and husband, Randall of Abingdon, Va.; two grandchildren, Leah Gregory and husband, Jeff of Georgetown, S.C., and Jeff Godsey of Abingdon; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Jessica Gregory; one brother, Edd McGLothlin and wife, Myrtle of Vermillion, Ohio; one sister, Nell Branham of Richlands, Va.; half-sister, Etta Ruth Justice; half-brother, Frank McGlothlin; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Ed Booher. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at St. Luke United Methodist Church with Rev. Gale Flanary and Rev. Ralph Kidd officiating. The interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Greg Guffey, Gerald Guffey, Bobby Meadows, Albert Dishner, Ira Stewart, Jesse McGlothlin, Ned McGlothlin and Jeff Eller. Honorary pallbearers will be St. Luke United Methodist Church Men's Club. The family will receive friends from 5 7 p.m. Tuesday at Akard Funeral Home.
