Jesse T. "J.T." Ogan Jesse T. "J.T." Ogan, 82, passed away Tuesday morning at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. A native of Claiborne County, Tenn., he had lived in Airport Acres of Sullivan County since 1967. He retired from Consolidated Freightways and Mason-Dixon Freight Lines as a Truck Driver after 30 years of service. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. J.T. was also a member of Holston Masonic Lodge 559, Frances Haun order of Eastern Star 467, Knoxville Scottish Rite and charter member of Jericho Shrine Temple, Retirees Chapter of Teamster local 549, a life member of VFW Post 4933 and a member of the National Rifle Association. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Chittum Ogan; his parents, William Robert and Della Wright Ogan; sisters, infant Lois Ogan and Bonnie Lauthner; brother, Bob Ogan; and grandson, Nathan Ogan. Surviving are his four sons, Rodney Ogan, Douglas Ogan and his wife Karen, Victor Ogan and his wife Leta, Richard Ogan and his wife Melony; one daughter, Dina Sullivan and her husband Mike, all of Sullivan County; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lewis Ogan of Tazewell, John Ogan and his wife Barbara of Powell; one sister, Betty Neely of Powell; one sister-in-law, Edith Ogan of Heiskell; and several nieces and nephews. The family of J.T. Ogan will receive friends Friday Nov. 27, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tri-Cities Funeral Home, with funeral services being conducted at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Al South officiating. A Masonic aervice will follow with Holston Masonic Lodge 559. Military graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens, with American Legion Hammond Post No. 3, Gate City Post No.265, and the Tennessee Army National Guard. The military will serve as Mr. Ogan's pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be David Killebrew, Jacob Ogan, Eugene Marshall, Gary Black, Harold Lawrence, Wayne Whitson, Bill Boyd, Kenneth Cox, Loy Faulk, Mike Owens and Everett Sells. Memorial contributions may be made to Beulah Baptist Church, 491 Beulah Church Road, Kingsport, TN 37663; or to Alzheimer's Association Northeast Tennessee Chapter, 207 North Boone St., Johnson City,.
