Jessie Lawson

KENTS RIDGE, Va. – Jessie Evelyn Shelton Lawson, age 73, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol Tennessee, following a brief illness.
Born May 6, 1935, in Tazewell County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Shelton and Virgie Charlotte Shelton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two half brothers, George and Marce Shelton, and three half sisters, Virge Webb, Ada Webb and Ethel Joyce.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Darrell Lawson; sons, Gary Lawson and wife Leesa of Bluefield, Va., and Darrell A. Lawson and wife Vanessa of Florida; daughter, Mona Baldwin and husband Terry of Richlands; brother, Dennis Shelton and wife Barbara of Shawsville; sisters, Eunice Shinall of Cedar Bluff, Shirley Crockett and husband Roy of Virginia Beach and Linda McGhee and husband Donnie of Cedar Bluff; half sister, Bethel McGlothlin of Richlands; one grandson, Jerome Baldwin of Richlands; two granddaughters, Brooke Lawson of Bluefield, Va., and Amanda Crews and husband Brandon of North Tazewell; one great-grandson, Ayden of North Tazewell; one unborn great-grandson, Baby Bump; several nieces and nephews; very special friend, Opal Viars; special friend, Lucille Burke; a host of family and friends; and beloved pet, Gorillie.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va., with the Rev. Paul Goshorn and the Rev. Bill Shook officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Va.
Pallbearers will be Jerome Baldwin, Brandon Crews, Barry Shinall, Joey McGhee, Brian Shelton and Leland Hess.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff.
