John Wiley Hicks BRISTOL, Va. John Wiley Hicks, age 90, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 9, 2010, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1920, in Mountain City, Tenn., to the late James Emerson Hicks and Ora Heaton Hicks. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the South Pacific during World War II. John spent several years in Newark, Delaware working as an assemblyman for Chrysler Corporation. He retired after 31 years of service and moved back to Bristol in 1990. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. John was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary Pauline Arnold Hicks; and by a son, John Edward Hicks. Survivors: children, Phyllis Stalnaker and husband George of Katy, Texas, David Hicks and wife Debbie of Lithia Springs, Ga., Linda Minton of Las Vegas, Nev., Patricia Longest and husband Eric of Graham, N.C., Tina Olkowski and husband Jeff of Powell, Tenn.; brother, Jack Worley Hicks of Porterville, Calif.; grandchildren, Melissa, Mark, Derek, Danielle, Jennifer, Jonathan, Emily and Abigail; nine great-grandchildren; five nieces. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, 2010, from Victory Baptist Church with Dr. Austin Cook officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 at the Church prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 12, 2010, at Philippi Cemetery in Mountain City, TN. Pallbearers will be Mark Hicks, Derek Hicks, Jonathan Olkowski, Bill Winters, Robert Phillips, and Charlie Hawkins.
