Joseph Addison Meredith Jr. On his 63rd wedding anniversary, June 1, 2010, Joseph Addison Meredith Jr. passed away. He was 90 years old. After serving in the Army-Air Force during World War II, he graduated from Milligan College and then got his master's degree in chemistry from UT. He worked as a chemist at North American Rayon and 20 plus years at Holston Defense Corporation. He was a member of Central Holston Christian Church and South Holston Ruritan. He was Cub Scout master Pack 205 and a member of American Chemical Society and Sigma Xi. Joseph was an honorary member of U.T. Singers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. Meredith Sr. and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Morton Meredith; and two brothers, George Meredith and Ed Meredith. Survivors include: wife of 63 years, Sarah Nell Smithson Meredith; daughter, Margaret Rosenbalm and husband Dennis of Knoxville; sons, Joseph Addison "Joey" Meredith III and wife Nancy of Maryville, Bill Meredith of Bristol, David Meredith of Bluff City; grandchildren, Sara Croley and husband Ross, Danny Rosenbalm, Leah Key and husband David, Philip Rosenbalm; great-grandchildren, Lydian and Ben Croley, Mia Key; sister, Beck (Sarah Elizabeth) Bullock of Bluff City; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 5, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Central Holston Church with Wayne Emery and Steve Page officiating. The burial will follow in Shipley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Weaver Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Ben Campbell, Frankie Lopez, Mike Morton, George O'Dell, Shawn O'Dell, Wes Waites, Brenden Webb and Corey Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be Loyal Workers Sunday School Class and South Holston Ruritan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Holston Christian Church, 261 Sand Bar Road, Bristol, TN 37620.
