Joy Hall

Joy Janine Hall CHILHOWIE, Va. Joy Janine Hall, age 42, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at her home. She was born in Smyth County and was preceded in death by her father, Jerry M. Hall; her maternal grandparents, Lewis and Colene Combs; her paternal grandparents, Herman "Buddy" and Jane Hall; and her stepfather, Joe Rice. Joy grew up working on her grandparents farm and loved to farm with her grandfather. She was a very loving and giving person who will always be remembered for living up to her name. She was a Joy to be with. Joy served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Survivors include: her mother, Brenda S. Rice; her special friend, Mary Sapp; sister, April Lyles and husband Ronnie, Chilhowie; nieces and nephews, Rena Shumate and husband Franklin, Daniel Lyles and wife Trish and Dessa Smith and husband Dustin; great- nephew, Gage Lyles; aunts and uncles, Linda Larmer, Chilhowie, Bobby and Donna Combs, Chilhowie, Brenda and Walter Waddell, Atkins, Gary and Candice Hall, Clintwood, Cathy Hall, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jackie McVey, Chilhowie, Becky Hall, Chilhowie and Steve and Tammy Hall, Pearisburg; stepsisters, Joie Widner and husband Bruce and Barbara Honey and husband Tom. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 17, 2009, at the Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion, with Rev. Darrell Lambert and Pastor Mike Sage officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the Francis Marion VFW Post 4667. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 - 6 p.m. and following the services at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions can be made to the Grosses Creek Baptist Church, 250 Flatwood Acres Road, Chilhowie, VA 24319.
