Kenneth Lee Pendergrass PORT ORANGE, Fla. Kenneth Lee Pendergrass, age 66, of La Costa Village, passed away quietly in his home on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009. A funeral service in his honor will be held Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, 1 p.m. at the Daytona Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Home, interment and military honors will follow at Daytona Memorial Park. The visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 15, from 6-8 p.m. Kenneth was born in Bristol Virginia to Fredrick and Essie Pendergrass, he was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and dedicated his talent as a heavy equipment operator. He worked for several years with Martin Paving and a few more for D&W Paving. Kenneth was a caring, giving, helpful gentleman who enjoyed NASCAR and visiting his nephew's auto shop but, most of all, spending time and playing with his family. His parents; and brother-in-law, Charles Carroll preceded him in death. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his companion of 30 years who cared for him and loved him with all her heart, Jewel Bottorff; five step\ children, Lindy, Lisa, Hazel, Dennis, and Betty; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved him dearly. He is also survived by a sister, Betty Carroll; a brother, Wayne and his wife Peggy; a mother-in-law, Nezbie Owens; two brothersin-law and their families; three nephews, William, Dale, Dennis; and a niece, Debbie, all of South Daytona.
