Lottie Mabel Sutherland Waddell VANSANT, Va. Lottie Mabel Sutherland Waddell, age 89, went home peacefully to be with her Lord, Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va., surrounded by her loving family. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late Noah and Pheba Counts Sutherland. She was a homemaker and one of the longest standing members of Vansant Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son and five brothers and sisters. Survivors include two sons, Larry (Anne) Waddell of Christiansburg and David (Sara) Waddell of Union, Conn.; and a daughter, Sandra Waddell of Vansant; her special loving caregive; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Waddell of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Lori Meredith and husband Anthony (who is serving in Iraq) of Christiansburg; a special great-grandson, Nathaniel Meredith of Christiansburg; two brothers, Jack Sutherland of Okeechobee, Fla., and Linden "Junior" Sutherland of Bristol; five sisters, June Journell of Narrows, Brownie Stamp of Waldorf, Md., Ann Reynolds of Sharon, Ind., Norma Sherrow of Hobart, Ind., and Nannie Colley of Clintwood; several nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Vansant Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Moor and Dr. Stan Parris officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Dewey Sutherland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry, David and Jeffrey Waddell and Darrell Silcox, Coy Rakes and Glenn Dobis. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Clinton Sutherland, Dr. Fred Ballenger and the staff of Fresenius Dialysis Center, employees of Heritage Hall Healthcare, Rescue 33 and the Deacons and Members of Vansant Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2- 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at the Vansant Baptist Church prior to funeral service at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vansant Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Larry & Sandy,
I am sorry to learn of yor loss. I remember the many times we spent laughing & enjoying the fellowship in church and visiting each other. I know it has been many years ago but memories last a lifetime especially thw good ones. You and your family are in my prayers.
