Louise King

Louise Harkleroad King Louise Harkleroad King, 95, passed away Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at NHC of Bristol. She was a daughter of the late Jacob Henry Harkleroad and Florence Colley Harkleroad. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dan M. King; sister, Madelene H. Watson; and brothers, Paul Harkleroad and Clyde Harkleroad. She is survived by her daughters, Danna Reynolds and husband Dennis, Bristol Tennessee, and Rachel Vick and her friend Jeff Lane, Hahira, Ga.; grandchildren, Derek Vick and wife Rachel, Dallas, and Susan Reynolds, Knoxville, Tenn.; one great- granddaughter, Abigail Kate Vick, Dallas; nieces and nephews, June Burnett, Holyoke, Mass., Ruth Holmes, Alpharetta, Ga., Richard King and Riley King, Bristol Tennessee; and a special sister-in-law, Nancy Westerfield, Bristol Virginia. Louise was a graduate of Bristol Tennessee High School and Virginia Intermont College, where she was president of the Day Students Organization. She was a member of Windsor Avenue Presbyterian Church and the Frances Ernest Bible Class. She had served as president of the Presbyterian Women receiving a life membership in this organization. She worked with Meals on Wheels and numerous other church activities. Always an ardent supporter of her children and grandchildren, she was very active in PTA, the Tennessee High Band Boosters, and her girls' many equestrian endeavors. Louise was also a 25- year breast cancer survivor. There will be a graveside service at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, Dec. 29, 2010, in Glenwood Cemetery with the Reverend J. Davis Whitesides officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Windsor Avenue Presbyterian Church, 1100 Windsor Ave., Bristol, TN 37620; or Breast Cancer Research.
