Margaret Hopkins

Margaret Marie Hopkins HONAKER, Va. Mrs. Margaret Marie Hopkins, age 84, passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, in a Lebanon, Va., hospital. Born Oct. 2, 1926, in Swords Creek, Va., she was a daughter of the late Frank Preston and Gertrude Stillwell Slate. A lifelong resident of the area, she was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and attended Full Gospel House of Prayer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles T. Meadows; and three brothers, Frank Preston Slate Jr., James Slate, and Burke Slate. Survivors include her husband, Frank Hopkins of the home; six sisters, Georgia Carr of Pulaski, Beulah Whited of Ridgeway, Geraldine Dye of Cedar Bluff, Peggy Hess of Richlands, Shirley Davis of Cedar Bluff, and Annie Coleman of Rosedale; one brother, Carol Nicholas Slate of Bassett; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Claude Rose and Rev. Virgil Musick officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be Kirby Meadows, Acie Meadows, Doug Sheppard, Burly Mullins, Ernie Perkins, Lowie Perkins, and Jackie Deskins. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Dwight Bailey and Dr. Faisal Chaudhry.
