Marie Baker "ReeRee" Fugate

Marie "ReeRee" Baker Fugate ABINGDON, Va. Marie "ReeRee" Baker Fugate went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010. She was born Oct. 15, 1930, in Washington County, Va., and was a daughter of the late Robert Henry Baker and Nellie Longly Clark. She was a graduate of Morristown College in Morristown, Tenn., and was a member Charles Wesley United Methodist Church. She was the church organist/pianist for over 50 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy William Fugate; and sons, Clarke A. Fugate and James H. "Mike" Fugate. Surviving are three sons, Robert W. (Elizabeth) Fugate, Thomas A. (Patricia) Fugate, all of Norfolk, and Craig S. (Kimberly) Fugate of Mississippi; one daughter, Angela M. Fugate of Abingdon; one brother, Bouyer Baker of Conyers, Ga.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Valerie Fugate; and uncle, Charles Wilson of Wickliffe, Ohio. Funeral services for Mrs. Fugate will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Willie Austin, Rev. Robert Kariuki and Rev. James Oxendine officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Dirk Fugate, Michael Fugate, Patrick Jordan, Vincent Anderson, Calvin Medley and James Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be men of Charles Wesley United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Thursday.
