Marion "Buck" Owens JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. Marion "Buck" Owens, 69, passed away on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home, Tenn. He was a native of Williamsburg County, S.C., and the son of the late George D. and Mettie Collins Owens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters. Buck was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired after twenty three years in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Eden United Methodist Church, the Masonic Rhea Lodge, Shriners, past Commander of American Legion Post 400 in Charlotte, N.C. Buck is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kathleen Ryan Owens; daughters, Amanda K. Butterfield and husband Jason, and Audra M. Owens-DeBoard and husband Christopher; son, R. Scott Owens and wife Suzanne; two grandchildren; two sisters; one brother; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the docters, nurses, and the entire staff at the VA Medical Center for the loving care they provided to Buck during his stay there. A celebration of life service for Marion "Buck" Owens will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services with Dr. Ed Nelson and the Rev. Jake Herron officiating. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. A committal and interment service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by Boone Dam VFW Post No. 4933. Pallbearers will be chosen from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the Jericho Fez Patrol. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday by 9:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Shriners Children's Hospital, 950 West Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605; or to Eden United Methodist Church, 1620 Mill Springs Rd., Jonesborough TN 37659.
