Max Douglas Hall CASTLEWOOD, Va. Max Douglas Hall, 70, went home Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, in Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol Tennessee. He was born in Castlewood, son of the late Mack and Cora Skeen Hall. He was preceded in death by one sister, Josephine Vicars; and two brothers, Dwight Hall and Robin Hall. He was a member of Hamlin Baptist Church and was employed by Pittston Coal Company for 34 years. Doug loved helping others and gave of himself freely. He enjoyed growing vegetables, flowers, bird watching, and telling others about each of his hobbies. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Hall; one daughter, Michelle Oakley and husband, John, of Carson, Va.; one son, Kevin W. Hall of Abingdon, Va.; one sister, Pat Huff of Lebanon, Va.; brothers-in-law, David Vicars, Wayne Amburgey, James Amburgey, and Ed Amburgey; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Burke, Catherine Hall, Betty Amburgey, and Pam Amburgey; two grandsons that he loved dearly, Trey and Matthew Oakley; his dog, Rooneii, who was his faithful friend; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Max Douglas Hall will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Pastor George Jesse and the Rev. Jim Pratt officiating. Committal services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home and go in procession leaving for the cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Pallbearers will be Dave Powers, Charlie "Buster" Burke, Wayne Amburgey, Otis Wade, Joe Tomlinson, and Ernest (Shy) Kennedy. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood.
