Maynard Kestner

Maynard Franklin Kestner BRISTOL, Va. Maynard Franklin Kestner, age 88, passed away Nov. 7, 2009, at his home. He was born May 28, 1921, in Abingdon, Va., a son of the late Banner and Susie Counts Kestner. He was a carpenter and a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ellis "Kes" Kestner. Survivors include: wife, Polly Kestner; three step- children from a previous marriage; two step- children, Gary Johnson and wife Kathy, Karen Edson and fianc‚ Sam Cassell; three sisters, Jenette Brown and husband Don of Oregon, Hazel Bonger and husband Wendell of Kansas, Betty Schadge and husband Al of Colorado; brother, Mike Kestner and wife Barbara of Washington; two grandchildren, Candace Edson and Lindsay Edson; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa Edson, Elijah Edson and Braydon Edson. Graveside service will be held Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the Mountain View Cemetery, with Pastor Jack Stevens officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wellmont Hospice House at 280 Steele's Road, Bristol, TN 37620.
