Maynard Franklin Kestner BRISTOL, Va. Maynard Franklin Kestner, age 88, passed away Nov. 7, 2009, at his home. He was born May 28, 1921, in Abingdon, Va., a son of the late Banner and Susie Counts Kestner. He was a carpenter and a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ellis "Kes" Kestner. Survivors include: wife, Polly Kestner; three step- children from a previous marriage; two step- children, Gary Johnson and wife Kathy, Karen Edson and fianc‚ Sam Cassell; three sisters, Jenette Brown and husband Don of Oregon, Hazel Bonger and husband Wendell of Kansas, Betty Schadge and husband Al of Colorado; brother, Mike Kestner and wife Barbara of Washington; two grandchildren, Candace Edson and Lindsay Edson; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa Edson, Elijah Edson and Braydon Edson. Graveside service will be held Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the Mountain View Cemetery, with Pastor Jack Stevens officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wellmont Hospice House at 280 Steele's Road, Bristol, TN 37620. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Hanor and staff, Dr. Zaidi and staff, NHC Healthcare and Advanced Care. Online condolences may be registered at www.weaverfuneralhome.net Arrangements have been made with Weaver Funeral Home.
