Myra Jessie Stillwell Carnette COEBURN, Va. Myra Jessie Stillwell Carnette, 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at her residence. She was born in Toms Creek, Va., on July 5, 1914, to the the late Ella Ratliffe and George Washington Stillwell. Myra lived in Coeburn all of her life and was the oldest living member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Coeburn. Myra was preceeded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Carson Eugene Carnette Sr.; four sisters; and four brothers. Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Perry, Bluefield, W.Va., Charlotte Brown, Coeburn, Linda Jordan and spouse David, Fairfax, Va., and Elizabeth Blair, and spouse, Robert, Beckley, W.Va.; six sons, Carson and spouse, Ortygia, Fredericksburg, Va., Calvin, Joe and Sandy, all of Coeburn, Anthony and spouse, Chesteen, Kingsport, Tenn., and Johnny and spouse, Robon, Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Kathleen Bailey, Mary Kate Smalls, Beckley, W.Va., Doris Spence, Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Earl Stillwell, Bluefield, W.Va., and James Stillwell, Columbus, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Vergie Freeman and spouse, Joe, Martinsville, Va.; special friend, Elizabeth Turner and adopted son, Dr. Maurice Nida; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; and a host of friends that loved her dearly. The family would like to thank the hospice nurses, Dianne, Barbara, Patsy and Freda and Chaplin, Greg Sargent. The family will receive friends at Estes Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at noon on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Mabrey officiating. Burial will follow at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Va. Arrangments by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave., NE, Coeburn, VA.
