Myrtle Yates Adkins

Myrtle Yates Adkins Myrtle Yates Adkins, 94, passed away Nov. 6, 2010, in Richmond, Va. She was a native of the Caney Ridge section of Dickenson County. She was the widow of Sylvan Adkins and a long-time resident of Chesapeake, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Edith Yates, Haylene Yates Sauls, and Pauline Yates Sauls; brothers, John Yates Jr., Bobby Jeff Yates, Billy Yates; and her nephew, Darrell Lowery. She was born Feb. 27, 1916, to William Jonathan and Maude Fleming Yates. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Robert Armentrout of Richmond; her sister, Georgia Yates Lowery, of Caney Ridge; and her beloved nieces and nephews and their families. Family will receive friends Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 6 p.m. where a song service will be held at 7 p.m. in the Mullins Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted Wedneday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. in the Mullins Funeral Home Chapel with Clergymen Joe Glenn Sluss officiating.
