Myrtle Yates Adkins Myrtle Yates Adkins, 94, passed away Nov. 6, 2010, in Richmond, Va. She was a native of the Caney Ridge section of Dickenson County. She was the widow of Sylvan Adkins and a long-time resident of Chesapeake, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Edith Yates, Haylene Yates Sauls, and Pauline Yates Sauls; brothers, John Yates Jr., Bobby Jeff Yates, Billy Yates; and her nephew, Darrell Lowery. She was born Feb. 27, 1916, to William Jonathan and Maude Fleming Yates. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Robert Armentrout of Richmond; her sister, Georgia Yates Lowery, of Caney Ridge; and her beloved nieces and nephews and their families. Family will receive friends Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 6 p.m. where a song service will be held at 7 p.m. in the Mullins Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted Wedneday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. in the Mullins Funeral Home Chapel with Clergymen Joe Glenn Sluss officiating. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery on Caney Ridge section Clintwood. Mullins Funeral Home and staff are serving the Adkins Family. Online condolences may be made at www.mullinsfuneral

We knew Mrs. Adkins when she was at The Laurels of Bon Air.
She was such a joy and delight to know, even tho it was only for a short while.
We will miss seeing her very much.
