Ola Fair Williams BERTON, Va. Ola Fair Williams, 93, of Berton in Giles County, peacefully departed this life Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at Fauquier Health and Rehab. Nursing Center in Warrenton, Va. Born in Berton on Sept. 17, 1916, she was a daughter of the late William Alexander and Margaret Sue Wallace Williams. Ola was retired from McCroys Department Store where he worked for many years in Bristol Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, William Alvin Williams; and her sisters, Lelia Goodwil Williams Stafford and Leta Pearl Williams. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved nephew and his wife Jerry and Margaret Williams of Marshall, Va., who faithfully cared for her; her sister-in-law, Louise Clark Williams of Pearisburg; her very good friend, John D. Moore of Bristol Tennessee; and several great-nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at 11 Aa.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., in Pembroke, with Pastor Eddie Kendall and The Rev. Dr. Gary Knapp officiating. Burial will be later in the Kirk Cemetery at Berton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour before the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to West Hills Christian Church in Bristol Tennessee. Online condolences may be sent by visiting kendallfuneralhome.com

I remember Ola from McCrory's, where
we both worked, back around 1972, when I was about 22 or so. She was always the kind and gentle person, and friendly to all. Many years have passed, and McCrory's has been gone for a long time; she made working a pleasant experience.
