MORRISTOWN – Orville H. (O.H.) Hicks passed away Saturday, March 18, 2006.
He operated a grocery store in Bluff City for 17 years, served as credit manager for Sherwin Williams Co. for 10 years and retired as executive director of the Morristown Housing Authority after eight years. He was a member of First Christian Church of Morristown, where he served as elder, church treasurer and chairman of the board for several years. He was chairman of the board of trustees when the education building and the sanctuary were approved for construction. He also taught the You and I Sunday School Class for years. He was a 50-year member of the Zollicoffer Masonic Lodge and also a 50-year member of the Eastern Star in Bluff City.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Lucille W. Hicks; great-granddaughter, Talyn Hicks; parents, Oscar L. and Emily G. Hicks; five brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by his son, James C. Hicks and wife Frankie; grandson, Timothy (T.C.) Hicks; granddaughter, DeAnna (DeeDee) Lamb; great-grandson, Trevor Hicks; and great-granddaughter, Lindsey Lamb, all of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Mayes Mortuary, with the Rev. Greg Grant and the Rev. Lamar Garrison officiating. Graveside service will be Thursday, March 23, 2006, at 11 a.m. in Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the service at the mortuary.
Mays Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
