Ozene "Zeke" Walters BRISTOL, Tenn. Ozene "Zeke" Walters, age 97, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. Ozene was born June 13, 1913, in Troutman, N.C., a son of the late Joe and Janie Overcash Walters. He lived in the Bristol area most his life, where he had retired from Bristol Lincoln-Mercury. Mr. Walters was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of Sinking Springs United Methodist Church and a member of King Masonic Lodge No.461 F&AM, for over 50 years. He was also a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner. He was a roadrunner with the Jericho Shriners for over 15 years, providing transportation for children who were patients of the Shriner's Children's Hospitals. Mr. Walters was a lifetime member of VFW Post No.6975, and a member of the American Legion. Survivors include: His wife of 63 years, June Cowan Walters; sister, Zelma Kielbaso of Dayton, Ohio; brother, Bobby Lee Walters of Madison, Ind.; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Nunley and Paula Cowan. The funeral service for Mr. Walters will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, in the Glenwood Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Randy Powers and Rev. Jack Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, 1100 Sam Walton Drive, Kingsport, TN 37660.
