Patricia Byrd Vanover RAVEN, Va. Patricia Byrd Vanover, age 51, went to be with the Lord July 18, 2010. She was a member of New Hope Assembly. She worked at the Mattie Williams Hospital for 10 years and at Ballard Insurance Agency for 24 years. She loved her family, church family, work and kids. She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Byrd; sister, Debbie Byrd Martin Whitt; paternal grandfather, Avery Byrd; maternal grandparents, Noah and Mary Newberry; special aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Rick Vanover; son, Ralph Vanover and wife Allison of Doran; father, Russell Byrd and wife Ann of Clinton, N.C.; grandmother, Katherine Byrd of Clinton; sister, Tammy Hardman of High Point, N.C.; nieces, Hannah and Darby Hardman of High Point; nephew, Chad Martin of Ohio; great-niece, Tabitha Martin; mother-in-law, Thelma Davis of Hickory, N.C.; sister-in-law, Pam Arroyos and husband Felix and family of Hickory; brother-in-law, Randy Davis and wife Mary Ann and family of Pulaski, Va.; special aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors and friends. Her celebration of life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va., with Rev. Claudie Throgmartin, Brother David Lee Horton, Jack Brown and Ikey Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be board members and trustees of New Hope Assembly and family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be all men of New Hope Assembly, L.A. "Les" Ballard Sr., L.A. "Dusty" Ballard Jr., Virgle Short, John Short, Marrison Short, Bobby Alicie, youth group of New Hope Assembly, Vincent Carroll, cousins, uncles, Randall Cordle, Dennis Cordle, Marvin Lowe, Ted Coleman, Dave Coleman, Rick Cole and Houston Cole. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff. . In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Tazewell County Foster Parent Association, 122 Glenn St., Bluefield, VA 24605. I am so sorry for your loss, Patricia and I were such good friends over the years and I cherished her friendship. My family and I will be thinking of you, your son, Ralph and your family during this time. Please call me if there is anything that I can do. Janice sent flowers from the association, she and Denny are out of town this week. I hope that you take care of yourself through this very difficult time.
