Ray Horne HONAKER, Va. Mr. Ray Horne, age 68, of the Clifton Farm Road section, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010, in a Lebanon, Va., hospital. Born May 21, 1942, in Buchanan County, Va., he was a son of the late Henry and Laura Vance Horne. He had spent most of his life in the area and was a member of Blackford United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a disabled heavy equipment operator, having been employed at Jewell Smokeless Coal Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Horne and Donald Horne; and one sister, Brenda Horne. Survivors include two daughters, Shelia Dye and Sherry Cooper and husband, Jamie, all of Honaker; seven grandchildren, Chris Steffey, Josh Dye, Kristie Steffey, Koty Dye, Chelsea Steffey, Ashley Dye, and Seth Dye; three sisters, Shirley Brown and Melvin, Phyllis Moore and Bob, and Betty Rodriguez; one brother, Dexter Horne and Joan; ex-wife, Elizabeth Ray; one expected great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Pastor Mike Ryan officiating. Interment will follow in Musick Cemetery in Honaker. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Wednesday. Online condolences may be made at www.honakerfuneralhome.net
