Ray Horne

Ray Horne HONAKER, Va. Mr. Ray Horne, age 68, of the Clifton Farm Road section, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010, in a Lebanon, Va., hospital. Born May 21, 1942, in Buchanan County, Va., he was a son of the late Henry and Laura Vance Horne. He had spent most of his life in the area and was a member of Blackford United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a disabled heavy equipment operator, having been employed at Jewell Smokeless Coal Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Horne and Donald Horne; and one sister, Brenda Horne. Survivors include two daughters, Shelia Dye and Sherry Cooper and husband, Jamie, all of Honaker; seven grandchildren, Chris Steffey, Josh Dye, Kristie Steffey, Koty Dye, Chelsea Steffey, Ashley Dye, and Seth Dye; three sisters, Shirley Brown and Melvin, Phyllis Moore and Bob, and Betty Rodriguez; one brother, Dexter Horne and Joan; ex-wife, Elizabeth Ray; one expected great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Pastor Mike Ryan officiating. Interment will follow in Musick Cemetery in Honaker.
