Richard Henry Nelson BRISTOL, Tenn. Richard Henry Nelson, age 62, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. Born Feb. 29, 1948, in Bristol Tennessee, to the late Arch Edward Nelson and Carmen Richardson, and he lived all of his life in the Bristol area. He was a graduate of Tennessee High School, and was previously the co-owner of Nelson's BP Service Station. He was a former employee of Beecham Laboratories and Fingerhut. Mr. Nelson was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Loretta Craft Nelson; sister, Judy N. Mellenthien and husband Roy; sisters-in-law, Lucille Cross and husband James, Linda Vest and husband Kemper; nephew, Eddie Nelson and wife April, and their son, Connor; aunt, Maggie Richardson; many nieces and nephews; best friends, Freddie and Cathy Arnold, Bill and Sharon Wilmouth, Jim and Patty Hurt. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patsy E. Nelson; and brother, Arch Edwin Nelson. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Brown officiating. The burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cross, David Lyons, Jerry Peltier, Ron Peltier, Mark Stoots, and Eddie Nelson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Dixon, Ken Parks, and Willie Griffin. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home, or other times at the home of Lucille Cross, 317 Lakeview Circle, Bluff City, TN 37618.
