Robert Ray Godsey BRISTOL, Tenn. Robert Ray Godsey, age 79, passed away on May 17, 2010, at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Bristol Tennessee, a son to the late Edmond Godsey and Jewel Godsey Holloway. Mr. Godsey was a lifelong resident of Bristol and attended Virginia Avenue Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold M. Godsey and Fred K. Godsey and wife Shirley; and sister, Velma Mellons and husband Grady. Survivors include: wife of 37 years, Brenda Fleming Godsey; children, Nancy Butterworth and husband Dr. Jack Butterworth of Bristol Tennessee, Vicky Estes and husband Jim of Knoxville, Tenn., Bobby L. Godsey and wife Brigitte of Kingsport, Tenn., Tammy Gerdts and husband Pete of Piney Flats, Tenn., and Mark Godsey of Knoxville; grandchildren, Mandy Butterworth and Adam Stepp; brother, Clyce Godsey of Greeneville, S.C.; sister, Glenda Wade and husband Gene of Bristol Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Linda Willis, Betty Willis, and Ann Godsey. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at 1 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Rowlette officiating. Interment will follow at Eastern Heights Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Steve Godsey, Mark Godsey, Greg Godsey, Jeremiah Sanders, Randy Stitt, Jeff Willis, Craig Willis, and Greg Willis. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Willis and Ed Trinkle. Military honors will be presented by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Weaver Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 3101 Browns Mill Road, Johnson City, TN 37604. Online condolences may be registered at www.Weaverfuneralhome.net Arrangements have been made with Weaver Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
