Ronnie Thurston BRISTOL, Tenn. Mr. Ronnie Thurston, 51, died on Thursday, April 22, 2010. He was a son of the late Curtis G. Thurston and Thelma Thurston Pullon. Ronnie was the youngest of six children. He loved his family, books, music (especially the group "Celtic Woman"), and learning new things - especially about the medical field. He had a history of seizures from the time he was a baby and they continued through his adulthood. He served 18 years in the United States Air Force with two tours of duty in Seoul, Korea. He was a Black Belt Karate Instructor for the children on the Air Force Base. Special thanks to Dr. John Williams for his loving care. Ronnie is survived by his daughters, Dona Baldwin and her husband Rich of Selden, N.Y., and their son Adam Baldwin, and Kyrie Thurston of Bristol Tenessee and her mother, Lecia Thurston of Bristol Tennessee; his sisters, Linda Parker Browder and her husband Mike of Bristol Tennessee, and Ann Thurston Lane of Bluff City, Tenn.; brothers, Curtis G. Thurston Jr. of Bluff City and Dickie Thurston of Roanoke, Va.; and an aunt Myrtle Sybert of Bristol Tennessee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Sammy F. Thurston. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 o'clock Sunday afternoon, April 25, 2010, at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. A private family service will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The Bristol Boys and Girls Club, Attn: Eric Clark, P.O. Box 1074, Bristol, VA 24203.
